How to Make Your Own Illuminated Plants
It took more than two decades to develop the world’s first plant-based meal, but the idea has now been brought to fruition.
Illumina, a nonprofit startup, has released its first plant–based meal — a meal made from a combination of grains, beans, lentils and nuts — that is designed to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with cancer.
The meal has been available in its retail stores and online since November, and the company says it has raised more than $2.5 million in funding.
Illustrated planters are just the tip of the iceberg for the startup, which has since focused on the more general wellness of its products, such as a meal that contains an essential amino acid and a probiotic to help people digest their food better.
The company’s meal, for instance, contains a blend of nuts, beans and lentils that are packed with essential amino acids that can help to help promote healthy gut function, according to its website.
In addition to the plant-filled meal, Illumina is also partnering with the nonprofit Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to create an app to help health care providers track patients and provide nutritional support.
Illiumin hopes the new meal will be a game changer for people living in rural communities around the country who struggle to find good, local, healthy food.
The company says the new product will be made from local ingredients and will help empower people to make healthier choices.
Illuminas founders are aiming to create a meal with a range of nutritional benefits that will make it easier for people to eat, cook and support themselves in their health.
In a video that accompanied the meal’s release, the company said it’s working on adding additional nutrients that people can use as they get older.
Illums meal is just the first in a series of plant-fueled products the company plans to launch, according with a press release.
It says it plans to add more products to the menu throughout the year, and it’s also looking to expand the company’s offerings to include plant-powered ice cream and a protein-rich salad.
The goal of the meal is to help patients who suffer from digestive issues feel better about eating and making healthy choices.
